BUT SERIOUSLY, OUR NEW NEIGHBORS HAVE AN INCREDIBLE LAWN, AND I MISS ONLY HAVING A BALCONY + POTTED PLANT…
It has been a little while since I have been around here, and a minute or two since we had a nice heart-to-heart, but life is happening so fast I can’t even believe it! If you have been around insta at all lately, you know that Brad and I have started the journey of HOMEOWNERSHIP! We bought an incredible LEED Platinum Home in the city, and have been settling in to our new life! Wedding planning is on hold for now (but we can’t stop daydreaming about popup weddings and ice cream trucks) but we are humming away with life in the new house!
I have had so many moments where I doubted whether coming back to this space was right for me. I have gained more responsibility at my job (for those of you living under a rock, I am an interior designer at an architecture firm), Love coming home to our new home to make dinners, spend time with my fiancé, indulge in family get-togethers, hosting friends and family, self love, the list could go on!
At the end of all of these long days, I wonder where the blog fits in to the big picture.
I created this space several years ago as a place to share my inspirations, my musings, my favorites, and to document my self exploration as I moved to a new city. From where I stand today, it has become so much more than that, it is-at times-the source of my confidence and a source of joy, and others a vice that leaves me feeling insufficient and insecure. There have been times where I give this blog, this platform, and social media FAR too much power. I lose sight of who I am in the midst of who I feel like people would like more than me. Do you see what’s wrong with this picture?
I don’t want petiteMODERN to be a game, I don’t want to have to be strategic, I don’t want to schedule tweets and posts, and I don’t want to set deadlines for myself. I just want the freedom to write. I want the freedom to take the night off so I can fold laundry, or spend a sweet night on the patio, to abandon instagram for the night. I am so thankful for all that this platform has become, and all of the opportunities I have because of this amazing space. But most of all, I am so thankful for all of the people I have met because of this my journey here!
I am so excited to be carving out the time for fun new things around here! I have some great events planned, fun reviews and looks to share. But for now, I will see you soon!
